Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in extensive areas of the capital city, Kyiv.
Nine people were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were experienced blackouts and dealt with problems to water supplies, as stated by municipal leaders.
Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to local officials.
Moscow has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.
"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, the EU and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a online statement.
Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.
Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.
A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.
Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.
Local officials said the city experienced significant strikes throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child died and multiple civilians were wounded.
The strikes follow nights of bombing campaigns in the region, portions of which are occupied by Moscow's military.
All of Ukraine is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to spot.
Government officials told journalists that Moscow was intentionally trying to demolish the national power system, with strikes already impacting fuel infrastructure.
Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
